Selja's Simple and Elegant Style

Today's wedding was located in an outdoor park hidden away in a neighborhood in the Sugarhouse area.  I loved the location as you had to follow a path down to the open reception area.  I also loved that in this park there was a working fireplace.  I am sure as it grew dark and a bit chilly the wedding party was able to stay warm and cozy next to this intimate set up with our couch and chairs.  I love the use of simple flowers and wood throughout the venue.  Wood stumps were used as end tables next to our furniture.  This summer started a trend, which has now led to my obsession with using natural wood as a large element in decor.  Our trunk was used as a collection spot for gifts.  By the end of the night you could barely see the trunk!  Also the guest sign in table held a typewriter; it was kept simple as to focus on the typewriter.

Although this wedding was not a full decor wedding, the bride added a couple of elements that I just adored.  She used paper doilies to create multiple banners.  This was placed on the far side of the venue, which was probably most helpful as it kept guests from taking the wrong trail back to the road.  It is so simple and affordable and definitely added a touch of Selja's style to the event.  Also, instead of centerpieces on each table there was a little vintage strawberry basket which had questions in it.  Guests were to take out a question, reply with an answer and then leave it in the basket for the bride and groom.  I took a peak at a few of the questions and they were hilarious.  "Would you ever babysit for us in the future?", I think was my favorite.  I am thinking of some of the funny answers I might give if I was asked that at a wedding.  All in all it ended up turning out really cute.  Best wishes to Selja and her hubby!  I hope you are having a great 2014 newlyweds!
